1、能根据上下文和构词法推断、理解生词的含义;

2、能理解段落中各句子的逻辑关系;

3、能找出文章中的主题,理解故事情节,预测故事情节的发展和可能的结局;

4、能读懂常见体裁的阅读材料;

5、能根据不同的阅读目的运用简单的阅读策略获取信息;

6、能利用字典等工具书进行学习;

1、带着问题通读短文。先看短文后面的答题,然后再读短文,只有这样才能有的放矢,争取时间;

2、抓纲带目阅读全文。首先要抓住各自然段的主题句这个“纲”,以此来推断出文章的中心意思;

3、缜密分析判断找出正确答案。第一,从语法角度思考判断,如从词法判断词义,从句法、惯用法及动词的时态、语态、词类转换去判断句义、段义。第二,从宏观上加以判断、推理,最后做出合乎逻辑的结论;

4、从行文的条理入手,弄清文章的结构层次和段落间的内在联系。要围绕五个要素who, what, when, where, why 等问题去思考,弄清人物经历或事物发展的来龙去脉。对文章进行深入了解;

“That’s right,” said the boss after Jim told the story . “But didn’t you notice last week ?There was a mistake last week .There was too much ----five dollars too much ! For one mistake ,I can close my eyes but for two mistakes ,no, I can’t .” “Thank you ,Jim .I’ve known you already. Perhaps I have to choose another man as the head of the workplace .”the boss said at last.

From the story we know the boss________ Jim .

A. loved  B. helped  C. didn’t helped D. didn’t like

这是一道综合推断题,所给的四个选项都很模糊,但如果读懂老板的最后一句话“I have to choose another man as the head of the workplace . ”的含义,

就不难推断本题答案是D。

2、推断词义

通过上下文的意思来猜测某个生词的词义。

Mary Bluett , an offical , said mobile phone use is a distraction to students during school hours and it also gives teachers so much trouble in their classrooms. Teachers were also saying that sometimes students might use phone messages to cheat during exams.

When David Williams left school ,he went to Australia .Then he went to America .He decided to go back to his old school.

David was glad when he learned that his old teacher was still teaching there .He went to visit the old man ,and after they had an interesting talk ,the teacher went out to get something .While he was away ,David saw an examination paper on the desk .He looked at the date on it and saw that it had been given to the students the week before, David picked the paper up and read through .

When the teacher came back, David asked him,“ I’m sure that these are the same questions that you tested us in our examinations twenty years ago !How is that possible ? ”

“Yes , that’s right ,”agreed the teacher. “The questions are the same,but the answers have changed.”

What’s the best title for the story ?

A.   Bright Questions and Answers

B. An Old Paper with New Key

C.   David’s First Teacher—A Helpful Friend

D. David’s Old Teacher—A Man Full of  Humour

Chess must be one of the oldest games in the world. An Arab traveler in the year 900 wrote that it was played "long long ago". Chess was probably invented in India, and it has been played everywhere from Japan to Europe since 1400. The name "chess" is interesting. When one player is attacking the other's king, he says, in English, "check". When the king has been caught and cannot move anywhere, he says " check mate (将死)". These words come from Persian (波斯人). It means "the king is dead". That is when the game is over, and one player has won.

  Such an old game changes very slowly. The rules have not always been the same as they are now. For example, at one time the queen could only move one square(方块) at a time. Now she is the strongest piece on the board. It would be interesting to know why this has happened! Chess takes time and thought, but it is a game for all kinds of people. You don't have to be winner in order to enjoy it. It is not always played by two people sitting at the same table. The first time the Americans beat the Russians was in a match played by radio. Some people are able to play many people at the same time. One man played 400 games! It is said that some people play chess by post. This must make chess the slowest game in the world.

Some British and American people like to invite friends for a meal at home. You should not be upset (不高兴) if your English friends don't invite you home. It doesn't mean they don't like you!

  Dinner parties usually start between 7 and 8 p.m. and end at about 11p.m.. Ask your hosts what time you should arrive. It's polite to bring flowers, chocolates or a bottle of wine as a gift.

  Usually dinners start with drinks and snacks(快餐). Do you want to be extra (额外的)polite? Say how much you like the room, or the pictures on the wall. But remember-it's not polite to ask how much things cost.

  In many families, the husband sits at one end of the table and the wife sits at the other end. They eat with their guests.

  You'll probably start the meal with soup or something small, then you'll have meat or fish with vegetables, and the dessert(甜点), followed by coffee. It's polite to finish everything on your plate and to take more if you want.

Do you ever have a dream of making your home a happier place to be? Maybe there are some points you will follow:

Sometimes you don't think your parents are fair to you. When you want to dress in a modern way, your mum doesn't like you wearing a mini-skirt. When you are making phone calls to friends, they ask if you're speaking to a boy or a girl. Sometimes it seems that you' re not as close to your parents as you used to be. How can you become close again?

"Closing the Gap" by American author Jay McGraw gives advice on how to have a better relationship (3) with your parents. He gives ways to help you understand your parents. When you think "my parents don't want me to have any fun, " that usually means your parents want you to be safe. Both parents and children have needs. They need to feel they are important and loved.

You should tell your parents your needs, and find out what their needs are. Then, you can think of a way to make all of you happy. He gives you some ideas:

1. Make time to talk. You could talk about your school life and your plans for the future.

2. Keep a diary. This is to help you understand more about yourself and your feelings.

3. Show your parents you are growing up. Wash your own clothes and help around the house.

Your parents will feel that you are no longer a small child.

If you follow these steps, slowly, you will be able to break down the walls between your parents and yourself.

At one time or another we have all stopped to think about the weather. Some days the weather is good. Some days the weather is bad. Sometimes a day that seems bad turns out better than you thought it would. There are ways of understanding the weather. One way is to study the clouds.

No two clouds are ever alike. We can see the different kinds of clouds and watch them for signs of changing weather. To forecast the weather,  there are three things about clouds you should look for:  movement, colour, and change.

As a rule, the higher the clouds, the better the weather. And the lower the clouds, the worse the weather is likely to be. Fair-weather cumulus clouds (积云) are another sign of good weather. These are clouds we often see on warm summer days. Clouds can tell you if a storm is on the way. If the thick, fluffy cumulus clouds get bigger early in the day, then you know it will rain. If there is a sudden, cool and dark thunder (雷) cloud appears, then a storm is about to break out.

Colours in the sky tell us about the weather, too. A golden ring around the moon warns us that a storm is on the way. A watery yellow sunset is a sign that rain may be near.

The rainbow(彩虹) has a message, too. The colours of the rainbow come from the sun rays shining through falling rain. If you see the sun in the east and a rainbow in the west, the rain may be coming your way. If the sun is in the west and the rainbow is in the east, the rain will be moving away from you.

When people meet each other for the first time in Britain, they say “ How do you do?” and shake hands (握手) .Usually they do not, shake hands when they just meet or say goodbye. But they shake hands after they haven’t met for a long time or when they will be away from each other for a long time.

What is color? Why do some of the things around us look red, some green, others blue?

  Colors are really made by deflected (反射) light. We see color because most of the things reflect light. In the same way, if something is green, it reflects most of the green light. If something reflects all light, it is white. If it doesn’t reflect any light, it is black.

Some of the light is reflected and some is taken in (吸引) and turned into (变成) heat (热能).The darker the color is, the less light is reflected, the more light is taken in. So dark-colored clothes are warmer in the sun than light-colored clothes.
