My respecting teacher
I always thought that a man who was wise(睿智的) and good would become rich, but this year I have learned that this is not always true. I learned this from my teacher. He is both wise and good, but is not rich at all, for being a teacher, he doesn't have a good income. He may be able to get more money if he .gives up teaching for business But he is so proud of being a teacher that he takes pleasure in helping young people. He stays at school from morning till late afternoon and works very hard. He always smiles at us when we go to ask him for help. He is kinder to us than anyone whom I’ve ever known. I think it must be easier to learn history or maths than to learn how to become such a man. He scolds(责备) us when we do something wrong, but it teaches us to try to do better. We all wish to study with him as long as possible, but that may be impossible. Some of us may become doctors, some become businessmen, some become engineers, some become writers, but we all want one thing very much-to become men like our teacher.

French doctors and American scientists have reported doing an operation(手术) in which the doctor was outside the operating room. This kind of operation is known as robotic operation.
Doctor Marescaux did the operation in an office in New York City last month, while a sixty - eight - year - old woman patient was in a hospital in Strasbourg, France.
A doctor in Strasbourg got the patient ready . He placed medical tools and a small video camera in her stomach area(腹部). Doctor Marescaux in New York watched the patient on a video screen Then he used the computer to send messages to the robot machine.
The robot moved the tools that cut the woman's gall bladder (胆囊) away. The woman got well soon after the operation and left the hospital two days later.
Experts say the main problem with such a robotic operation is based on high - speed telecommunications (通讯系统) between the doctor and the robot. Technology must be able to send a doctor's order to a robot to move the tool quickly.
Experts also say a successful robotic operation will improve an operation. For example, the robot can make much smaller movements(动作) than a person can. A robot machine can turn tools in ways that a doctor's hand cannot.
Doctors say such a robotic operation will make possible safer and better operations in the future. They say it will improve doctor training. It will also mean that doctors could do an operation on people in dangerous places far away. And it could mean that people could have operations done by top doctors without having to travel to the city where the doctors work.

One day, Bob's horse was ill, so he borrowed one from a farmer. It was a big, strong animal, and nobody ever rode it except the farmer. It tried to throw Bob off, but he stayed on. Then it suddenly began to run away with him on its back. Bob tried to turn it towards his house, and then he tried to stop it, but it went on to run on the opposite way.
One of Bob's friends was working in the fields and saw him riding very fast towards his house. He thought, "Why is Bob riding so fast? Perhaps he has some bad news. Oh, no! He is coming here to give me bad news!" He was frightened and shouted to Bob, "Bob! Bob! What is the matter? Where are you going?"
"I don't know!" Bob shouted back. "This stupid animal hasn't told me!"

Several years ago, the mobile phones were very expensive. Only important people and people with a lot of money had them. These days, the prices have fallen greatly, and they come in small sizes and different colors. So more and more people, even high school students, have one in their hands.
It is true it’s an easy way to keep in touch with friends at any time and in any place. But in places like classrooms, theatres, and museums, where everyone should be quiet or talk in a low voice, we can also hear the ringing. Some students who can’t pay their phone bills do something illegal to get the money. Are mobile phones really a help?
