Mr Cooper had a small dog and he liked it very much.
Every afternoon before supper, he would take his dog out for a walk in the
park. Mr Cooper and his dog enjoyed the afternoon walk.
Last Saturday afternoon they went to the park as usual. On the way Mr Cooper met his friend, Miss Green. She was taking her dog for a walk, too. They were glad to see each other. They let their dogs play around and they stood talking. Ten minutes later, when they were saying goodbye, they couldn't find their dogs. Mr Cooper and Miss Green were worried. They looked everywhere for their dogs, but just couldn't find them. At last they gave up (放弃) and went home.
One morning Mr Cooper met Miss Green in the office. "I've found my dog," she told Mr Cooper. "You know, I put an advertisement (广告) in the newspaper and it worked (它起作用了) !" "That's great!" Mr Cooper said.
"How about your dog? Did you find it?"
"No," Mr cooper was not happy.
"Why don't you put an advertisement in the newspaper like me?"
"That's no use," Mr Cooper said. "My dog is too young. She can't read even a word."
