Is there anything more important than health? I don't think so. You can't be good at your studies or work well when you are ill.
If you have a headache, or a bad cough, if you run a high temperature and have a bad cold, I think you should go to the doctor.
The doctor will examine your throat, feel your pulse(脉搏), take your temperature, sound your heart and lungs. After that he will advise some treatment, or some medicine. The only thing you have to do is to follow his advice.
Speaking of doctor's advice, I can't help telling you a funny story.
An old man came to see the doctor. The man was very ill. He told the doctor about his weakness, memory(记忆) loss and serious problems with his heart and lungs. The doctor examined him and said there was no medicine for his disease.
He told his patient to go to a quiet place for a month and have a good rest. He also advised him to eat a lot of meat, drink two glasses of red wine every day and take long walks. In other words, the doctor advised him to follow the rule: "Eat at pleasure, drink with measure and enjoy life as it is." The doctor also said that if the man wanted to be well again, he shouldn't smoke more than one cigarette a day.
A month later the gentleman came into the doctor's office. He looked cheerful and happy. He thanked the doctor and said that he had never felt a healthier man.
"But you know, doctor," he said, "it's not easy to begin smoking at my age."
60.The writer thinks that .

D. nothing is more important than money

C. if the patient doesn't take medicine
D. unless the patient feels pain

A. he was feeling better than ever B. he wasn't a healthy man
C. he was feeling worse than before D. he will be well again

A. was a heavy smoker B. didn't smoke so much
C. didn't smoke D. began to learn to smoke
64.Which of the following is NOT TRUE?
A. The doctor usually tests his/her blood pressure when a person is ill.
B. The man told the doctor he couldn't remember things.
C. The man thanked the doctor.

This dictionary tells you about English words and how to use them in reading, writing and speaking English. It not only gives the meaning of words, it can also help you with spelling, word building, grammar and pronunciation.
To use your dictionary correctly, you need to understand how the dictionary works. At the front of the book, you will find some exercises to help you make the most use of your dictionary.
If you look up the word "colour", you will find two spellings for this word. "Colour" is used in British English, while "color" is used in American English. When there are differences between British and American spelling, the dictionary shows it with the word "BrE" for British English and "AmE" for American English.
The dictionary also helps you pronounce words correctly. If you turn to the inside back face, you will see all the phonetic letters(音标) with some words to show you how they are pronounced. Just look at the inside back cover when you're not sure how to say a word.
The most important reason for using a dictionary is to find out the meaning of a word-its definition .
In this dictionary, the definitions have been written using only 2000 words. This means that the definitions of even the most difficult words are simple and easy to understand.

Father was in the army all through the First World War, so, up to the age of five, I never saw much of him, and what I saw did not worry me. Sometimes I woke and there was a big figure(身影) looking down at me. Sometimes in the early morning I heard the closing of the front door and the sound of shoes walking down. These were Father's entrances and exits.
Each time he went away, he left me lots of presents-model tanks, knives and all sorts of military(军队的) equipment which he put in a long box. When he was not there, Mother let me get a chair and search through his treasures. She did not seem to think so highly of them as he did.
The war was the most peaceful period of my life. Every morning I awoke as soon as it was light and felt myself to be like the sun. Life never seemed so simple and clear and full of possibilities as then. I got up, went into Mother's room and climbed into the big bed. She woke and I began to tell her of my plans. I talked but then fell asleep and woke again only when I heard her below in the kitchen, making the breakfast.
I often wondered what Mother and I should do all day and what present I would get for Christmas. There was that little problem of the baby, for example. Mother and I could never agree about that. Ours was the only house in the street without a new baby, and Mother said we could not buy one until Father came back from the war as they were very expensive. That showed how simple she was. The Geneys who lived nearby had a baby, and everybody knew that they had hardly any money at all. Maybe it was a cheap baby, and Mother wanted something really good, but I felt this did not really matter. The Geneys' baby would have been fine for us.
71.Until the age of five, the writer .
A. did not worry about his father B. never saw his father
C. often annoyed his father D. saw his father sometimes
72.When Father was away, Mother asked the writer to .
A. put he presents aside B. go over the presents carefully
C. get everything ready D. throw the presents away
73.When the writer woke up, he felt that .
A. life was good B. he was simple
C. life was uninteresting D. he was funny
74.What happened as soon as the writer got into his mother's bed?
A. She went to make breakfast. B. He told her all his plans.
C. She asked him about his plans. D. He went to sleep.
75.The writer's mother said they could not have a baby because .
A. there was a war on B. there were too many babies in the street
C. they cost a lot of money D. Father was ill in the army

Dear Editor :

I’m a senior three student . I’m writing to tell you my opinion on whether middle school students can go to school with mobile phones . I think they can do that . Because students can stay in touch with their friends and family wherever they are . Besides , the mobile phone is a way to have fun .

However , there are some problems with using mobile phones . The ring of phones can disturb teachers and students in the classroom . Another problem is that some students can spend too much time and money on phone calls and sending messages .

In conclusion , I suggest students not use phones in the classroom . Also , as it is expensive , the owner should take good care of it .

Yours sincerely ,

Li Hua
