The opera house in Santa Fe New Mexico, is one of most beautiful in the United States. It is small and open, with one roof over the stage where the singers perform and another roof over part of the audience. This opera in the mountains is one of the best in the country, which may seem surprising because performances are only given during seven weeks in the summer, and because Santa Fe is a very small city.
One reason why the Santa Fe Opera is so good is that it attracts many excellent young singers. They all hope to sing in famous opera houses like the Metropolitan in New York someday, and they work hard to become well-known during the summer. The musicians and directors are experts who come from the best orchestras and operas in the country during their vacations. They enjoy working there because the music is always of the highest quality and because they like to live in Santa Fe, which is near both the mountains and the desert. It is very beautiful there in the summer.
The state government of New Mexico advertises the Santa Fe Opera in newspapers all over the country, and a great many tourists come to New Mexico because of the opera.Still, most of the audience do come from Santa Fe and other nearby cities, and all the seats in the theater are sold for every show.
There is only one thing that some people do not like about the Santa Fe Opera, and that is cold weather. Because the theater is open, performances cannot start before nine o'clock in the evening
(when the sun goes down), and then the mountain air becomes very cool. Sometimes people complain about the cold air, but because the operas are so good, these people come back again, wearing warm coats.
66. Santa Fe is all of the following EXCEPT _______.
A. a beautiful city B. near the mountains and the desert
C. a city in the State of New Mexico D. a large city

A. they like the scenery there B. they enjoy the climate there
C. they want to become famous D. they want to make a lot of money
69. Most of the audience _______.
A. already know the famous performers before they come
B. come because of the unusual opera house
C. come because the operas are very good
D. come from far-away places
70. In the Santa Fe Opera, performances are held _______.
A. all the year round B. in the daytime C. night and day D. after sunset only

Allen goes everywhere with Birgitta Anderson, a 54-year-old secretary. He moves around her office at work and goes shopping with her. "Most people don't seem to mind Allen," says Birgitta, who thinks he is wonderful. "He is my fourth child," she says. She may think of him and treat him that way, buying his food, paying his health bills and his taxes, but in fact Allen is a dog.
Bitgitta and Allen live in Sweden, a country where everyone is expected to lead an orderly life according to rules laid down by the government, which also provides a high level of care for its people. This level of care costs money.
People in Sweden pay taxes on everything, so don't surprised to find that owing a dog means yet more taxes. Some people are paying as much as 500 Sweden kronor in taxes a year for the right to keep their dog, money that is spent by the government on dog hospitals and sometimes medical treatment for a dog that falls ill. However, most such treatment is expensive, so owners often decide to pay health and even life insurance for their dog.
In Sweden dog owners must pay for any damage their dog does. A Swedish Kennel Club official explains what this means: if your dog runs out on the road and gets hit by a passing car, you, as the owner, have to pay for any damage done to the car, even if your dog has been killed in the accident.

Text 10
The summer vacation is over. It's true that time flies.During the vacation, the weather was hot and I could not do much work, but I lived happily.
As the afternoon was hot, I did my work in the morning.I used to get up at 6:30 and take a walk in the garden for half an hour. After breakfast, I began reading English and Chinese and did some exercises in math. Those took me three hours or more. I worked quite hard and made good progress.
I spent the afternoon outside.I went to swim and it was fun.I would not go home until about five or six o'clock.Sometimes, a friend of mine would come to see me, and we would spend some hours listening to music.
In this way, I spent my vacation happily. And I not only studied well, but also became a good swimmer. Now I am in good health and high spirits.
