   Until the doctor told me that I might go blind, the future spread before me in all directions. My paintings had been shown in New York galleries (艺术馆). I enjoyed the hours in my studio. But now everything was shadowed with fear.

The science of meteorology is concerned with the study of the structure, state, and behavior of the atmosphere. The subject may be approached from several directions, but the scene cannot be fully approached from any one vantage point (有利的地位). Different views must be integrated (合并) to give perspective(合理判断)to the whole picture.

One may consider the condition of the atmosphere at a given moment and attempt to predict changes from that condition over a period of a few hours to a few days ahead. This approach is covered by the branch of the science called synoptic meteorology(天气学).

Synoptic meteorology is the scientific basis of the technique of weather forecasting by means of the preparation and analysis of weather maps and aerological diagram(高空气象图). In previous generations, young people were under their parents' control; now the teenage children of the West's richest generation were ready for something to get excited about. The Beatles simply put a spark to a fuse (导火线) that was waiting to be lit.

Everything changed, and what changed for the Beatles was their lives and their working habits, in the midst of the hysterical (歇斯底里的) following the band attracted. Because of the demand of the fans to see them perform, they played biggest venues (meeting places), especially in America.

If you want to teach your children how to say sorry, you must be good at saying it yourself, especially to your own children. But how you say it can be quite tricky.

If you say to your children “I’m sorry I got angry with you, but …”, what follows that “but” can cause the apology ineffectiveness. “ I had a bad day” or “your noise was giving me a headache” leaves the person who has been injured feeling that he should be apologizing for his bad behavior in expecting an apology.

Another method by which people appear to apologize without actually doing so is to say “I am sorry you’re upset”; this suggests that you are somehow in the wrong for allowing yourself to get upset by what the other person has done.

 Then there is the general, all covering apology, which avoids the necessity of identifying a specific act that was particularly hurtful, and which the person who is apologizing should promise never to do again. 

 These pseudo-apologies are used by people who believe saying sorry shows weakness. Parents who wish to teach their children to apologize should see it as a sign of strength, and therefore not adopt these pseudo-apologies as a means of achieving an aim.

 But even when presented with examples of real deep regret for having done wrong, children still need help to become aware of the complexities of saying sorry. A three-year-old might need help in understanding that other children feel pain just as he does, and that hitting a playmate over the head with a heavy toy requires an apology. A six-year-old might need reminding that spoiling other children’s expectations can require an apology. A 12-year-old might need to be shown that borrowing a parent's clothes without permission is not acceptable.
