1998 National English Summer Camp for Middle School Students
As a lucky student, I attended the 1998 NESCMSS held in the beautiful seaside city of Yantai from July 25 to 30, which was sponsored by the English Coaching Paper Office. Over 100 students all over the country and 30 English teaching experts from home and abroad took part in the activity. All the campers were required to speak English. During the four days, a series of English activities were held including the Second National English Debate for Middle School Students and the Third National English Speech Competition for Middle School Students. We also visited some places of interest. A colourful English evening was held on July 29. The camp provided us with a valuable opportunity to speak English, make friends and exchange learning experience. I found my English much improved at the end of the camp. Never in my life shall I forget the impressive days in Yantai.

Way Out To Go To College ?
We had a discussion about whether it is the only
way out for senior students to go to college．Views vary from person to person.
The majority of us consider it very necessary to go to college．They think it can widen their knowledge and improve their qualities．Only in this way can they find better jobs after graduation．Very few students,that is about ten percent of the students think it
no use going university, because the tuition is too high for their family to
afford．What’s more, it’s rather hard for college graduates to seek satisfactory jobs．Thirty percent of the students, however, believe “All roads lead to Rome．” Therefore it doesn’t make any difference whether they go to college or not．
In my opinion, we can receive a better education at college so that we can serve
our motherland．

the sports building must be completed in time according to the contract. In
Athens, the swimming stadium was not accomplished in time so that the event had
to be held in the open air, which has brought negative effect on the
performance of athletes. In one word, to protect the international image of
China and ensure the Olympic competition, we must finish our preparation work
well and in time.

This evening I went to the KTV with some of my good
friends.
This was the first time that I had been to a
KTV. At first I didn't want to go. I had been in a bad mood the whole
afternoon because I didn't do well in the math exam. At the KTV,
everybody sang his favourite songs very happily except me. I was the only one
of the audience.
I didn't dare to have a try. Because I was afraid that
I couldn't sing well. Encouraged by my classmates, I picked up the
microphone and sang an English song 'I believe I can fly'
I have become cheerful now and above all I've regained
selfconfidence. I believe that the worst enemy in one's life is oneself. I
shouldn't lose heart just because of one or two failures. Because I still
have chances to try.
