66 Days At Sea
A couple from Miami, Bill and Simone Bultler, spent sixty-six days in a life-raft£¨¾ÈÉúͧ£© in the seas of Central America after their boat sank.
Twenty-one days after they left Panama in their boat, Siboney, they met some whales£¨¾¨Ó㣩. ¡°They started to hit the side of the boat,¡± said Bill, ¡°and then suddenly we heard water.¡± Two minutes later, the boat was sinking. They jumped into the life-raft and watched the boat go under the water.
For twenty days they had tins of food, biscuits, and bottles of water. They also had a fishing-line and a machine to make salt water into drinking water ¨C two things which saved their lives. They caught eight to ten fish a day and ate them raw£¨ÉúµÄ£©. Then the line broke. ¡°So we had no more fish until something very strange happened. Some sharks£¨öèÓ㣩 came to feed, and the fish under the raft were afraid and came to the surface. I caught them with my hands.¡±
About twenty ships passed them, but no one saw them. After fifty days at sea their life-raft was beginning to break up. Then suddenly it was all over. A fishing boat saw them and picked them up. They couldn¡¯t stand up. So the captain£¨´¬³¤£© carried them onto his boat and took them to Costa Rica. Their two months at sea was over.¡¡

The Singing Doctor
Nick Petrella is a doctor in Montreal. He works 60 hours a week. He takes care of 159 patients a week in the hospital and at his office. He¡¯s been a doctor for ten years.
Dr. Petrella gives his patients good medical advice. But he doesn¡¯t just tell his patients what to do. He also sings to them on television! Dr. Petrella has his own TV show. The show is in Italian, English and French. The doctor starts the show with a song and then gives medical advice. He explains a medical problem or disease in simple language. After that, he sings another song.
Dr. Petrella produces and performs in his own show every week. The program is very popular with his patients and with people who enjoy his singing. His dream is to perform£¨±íÑÝ£© in Las Vegas. His favorite songs are love songs, and he has a compact disk of love songs that he wrote. Dr. Petrella says, ¡°I always loved to sing. All my problems are gone when I sing.¡± But when Dr. Petrella was young, his father didn¡¯t want him to be a singer, So he went to medical school.

Don¡¯t just listen ¨C watch!
When we meet someone for the first time, it¡¯s no use trying to hide how we feel about them. Psychologists£¨ÐÄÀíѧ¼Ò£© say that we can¡¯t help showing our true attitudes£¨Ì¬¶È£© towards the other person, even if we actually say very little. So how can you tell whether people like you or not? Or, perhaps more importantly, if you want to know if a particular person finds you attractive or not, what are the signs to look for? Psychologists say it¡¯s easy to tell. All you need to do is to keep watching him or her very carefully, to find out how they feel about you. Their ¡®body language¡¯ will give them away. These are the signs you should look for:¡¡
You can tell that the other person likes you if he:
looks you in the eye.
seems to have large pupils£¨Í«¿×£© in his eyes.
tries to improve his appearance by touching his hair or clothes all the time.
stands or sits straight in front of you, or leans forward to talk or listen to you.
stands close to you, pulls in his stomach and pushes out his chest.
So you¡¯d better be careful if you don¡¯t want people to know how you feel about them. But if you want somebody to know that you like them and that you enjoy being with them, you don¡¯t have to say anything ¨C you should just let your body talk!

My uncle is a shopkeeper. He has a shop in a small village near Oxford. The shop sells almost everything from bread to newspapers. It is also the post office. The children always stop to buy sweets or ice-cream on their way to and from school. My uncle doesn¡¯t often leave the village. He doesn¡¯t have a car, so once a month he goes by bus to Oxford and has lunch at the best hotel. He is one of the happiest men I know.
